2019-12-11 · Molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH) refers to a hypomineralization of systemic origin, which affects 1–4 first permanent molars and is frequently associated with permanent incisors . MIH differs from hypoplasia or quantitative defects because it is a qualitative defect of the enamel that is clinically visualised as a demarcated opacity with clear and defined limits.

Abstract Recent data indicates that molar-incisor hypomineralisation (MIH) is a frequently – encountered dental condition worldwide. The condition could be associated with dental complications that MIH is not usually noticed until the adult incisors (front teeth) or molars (back teeth) come into the mouth around age 6-7 years. It can sometimes affect the back baby molar teeth and in these cases can be seen in the mouth from 2-3 years of age upwards.
