However, few authors have described the variation of the angles when the calcaneus is growing. In this study, Bohler angle and the crucial angle of Gissane in paediatric population were measured using lateral foot radiographs of 429 patients, from 0 to 16 years of age. In the CRPF group, the Böhler and Gissane angles were found to be restored better than in the CRP group, although this was not statistically significant (p=0.421, p=0.554, p=0.751, p=0.698). In functional evaluations with the AOFAS and MFS scales, better scores were calculated in the CRPF group and a statistically significant difference was found (p=0.017, p=0.023). Method: We measured Bohler ’ s angle and the crucial angle of Gissane using normal plain ankle radiographs of 763 patients from birth to 14 years of age completed over a five year Two parameters namely Bohler`s and Gissane angles were measured, independently by two radiologists to prevent inter-observer variation. Results: The Bohler`s and Gissane angles for the Indian population are statistically different from those seen in the published data for other population groups, as evidenced by the P value (P < 0.05).

Study objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the use of Boehler's angle (BA) and the critical angle of Gissane (CAG) in diagnosing calcaneus fractures in the ED. Design: The study was conducted as a randomized, blinded, case-control trial. Gissane angle (1946) Gissane Angle [aka *critical angle; critical angle of Gissane], like the Böhler angle , can be used to help determine the presence of a calcaneus fracture on a radiograph. The angle is measured on lateral foot radiograph formed by the intersection of the lines drawn along the downward (posterior facet) and the upward (anterior process) slopes of the calcaneal superior surface. Our aim is to investigate Bohler's angle and the crucial angle of Gissane in a paediatric population and establish normal paediatric reference values.

Method

We measured Bohler's angle and the crucial angle of Gissane using normal plain ankle radiographs of 763 patients from birth to 14 years of age completed over a five year period from July 2003 to June 2008.

Bohler's angle and Gissane's angle by either conservative or surgical method. angle and gissane angle during management of calcaneum fracture has its own   crucial angle of Gissane. An angle directly inferior to the lateral process of the talus, formed by a line drawn along the posterior facet of the calcaneus and a line   12 Aug 2020 Gissane's crucial angle (GA) facilitates to diagnose calcaneal fractures, and serves as an indicator of the quality of anatomical reduction after  Our data suggest that there is wide disagreement among surgeons regarding Böhler's angle and the crucial angle of Gissane in displaced intra-articular  1 Mar 2019 Most people think of the Böhler angle when considering calcaneal fractures but not me.

In the sample group, the mean Bohler angle was 35.4° ± 5.9° (95% confidence interval [CI]: 23.6°-47.2°) and the mean crucial angle of Gissane was 110.5° ± 7.4° (95% CI: 95.7°-125.3°). Gissane first described this critical or crucial angle in 1947. This angle reveals the angular relationship of the calcaneal facets and parallels the lateral process of the talus on a lateral radiograph (see Fig. 107.2). The cortical density represents the subchondral bone beneath the posterior, anterior, and middle facets. 2019-06-28 · Bohler’s angle was found to be a lot more diagnostically reliable when compared to the critical angle of Gissane (4).

Gissane angle

Gissane angle, also known as the "critical angle", is an angular measurement made directly inferior to the lateral process of the talus. It is formed by the downward and upward slopes of the calcaneal superior surface. Gissane's angle is also known as the crucial or critical angle and can be used to help determine the presence of a calcaneus fracture on a radiograph. The normal range is 130-145 degrees; An angle > 145 degrees is concerning for calcaneus fracture with involvement of the posterior talar articular surface Se hela listan på litfl.com Gissane's angle ADVERTISEMENT: Radiopaedia is free thanks to our supporters and advertisers.
